Painting for approval.

I am currently taking part in the July 20for20 art challenge, where I paint for a minimum of 20 minutes for 20 days. This challenge always proves to be a significant learning opportunity for me. I chose to use the thoughtful reference photos provided by Kelly @learntopaintpodcast. On Day 10, the reference photo was of a peony flower. When I opened the reference photo to start painting, I felt a sinking feeling in my stomach – I really did not want to paint that flower at all! Initially, I thought about skipping it and moving on to the next image, but I decided to confront the challenge instead.
