Creating a safe space to explore my painting process.
In my daily painting process, I’m experimenting with value patterns at their minimum. Pushing and pulling to see how much detail I need for the painting to feel right. I love exploring this process because the answer is 100% up to me. For me, it’s pushing to the edge and back adding detail and removing detail trying to balance the sense of ‘enough’ to represent the essence of the subject. It feels like a gateway to abstraction which I would love to explore in the future. The space I have created for myself gives me the freedom to explore new territory. I’m referring to the mental and mindset space.
I’ve adopted the 20-minute art habit from Kelly@learntopaint.com which allows me to construct a simple framework that supports trying new ideas because it’s just 20 minutes! I don’t need my 20-minute painting to be anything more than a space to explore.
