Interior practice

I walked into the house and noticed our cat Possum enjoying the afternoon sun streaming through the glass doors. He had the right idea, I thought I’d try to capture the light with tonal values. The strong light stream was the element that caught my eye, I kept my paints to a minimum of raw umber, ultramarine blue and white. Keeping my paint palette to a minimum keeps me focused on seeing the values. The canvas was primed with yellow, I’m pleased with the result and motivated to try more interiors.
